EU and Schengen Area Entry Requirements

The requirements listed on this page apply to EU / Schengen Area residents who are visiting Tenerife.

The requirements to enter the Canary Islands differ depending on whether your country of origin is on Spain's risk or high risk list.

Entry requirements from risk countries 

All travellers must have their details logged on a Spanish Locator Form. Only a digital form is accepted. A paper copy will not be accepted. 

Then ONE of the following: 

  • If you are fully vaccinated you can present your Vaccination Certificate. 

        OR

  • You can present a negative Covid test - You have the option of the Antigen test to be taken a maximum of 48 hours before your arrival in Spain. Or a NAAT test (PCR, LAMP, TMA) to be taken a maximum of 72 hours before you arrive.

        OR

  • You can present a certificate of recovery - this must be issued at least 11 days after the first positive NAAT test. The certificate is valid for 180 days.

Entry requirements from high-risk countries 

  • All travellers must have their details logged on a Spanish Locator Form. Only a digital form is accepted. A paper copy will not be accepted. 
  • You must present a negative test regardless of your vaccination status or prior infection. Tests that are currently being accepted are the Antigen test (to be taken a maximum of 48 hours before your arrival in Spain) or a NAAT test (PCR, LAMP, TMA) to be taken a maximum of 72 hours before you arrive.

What list is my country on

The Spanish government updates their list of Risk / High Risk countries weekly, to get the latest list follow these instructions:

  1. Visit the Spanish Ministry of Health website
  2. Expand the tab called 'RISK AND HIGH RISK COUNTRIES / AREAS'
  3. Click on the second PDF which is in English (or the first to in Spanish)
