As a mum of a 4 and 2-year-old living on the Island, I struggled at times to find things to do with my children. So here are a few of my top things to do as a family whilst you are on holiday or living here.
My two children love it here. Situated off the TF-1 Los Cristianos. One of the smallest zoos in the world but what it lacks in size it makes up for in interaction opportunities.
What's special about this place? You are entering their habitats. The park is home to Guinea pigs, squirrel Monkeys, Iguanas, crocodiles and so much more. There is a chance to feed the animals but don't bring food from home. They have a special diet, but you can buy a small food box at the door for a couple of euros.
Home to over 800 butterflies, the interaction doesn't get much better than this. With two avid lovers of the hungry caterpillar. My kids are fascinated by the lifecycle of the butterfly. Every day new butterflies are born in the nursery. If you are lucky you might get the opportunity to watch them come out of the chrysalis and take their first flight.
You can spend about 1 -2 hours here. The environment is set for the butterflies so on any given day it can be between 24-29c inside.
If you are looking for somewhere to go after the park. Five minutes walk is Plaza Andres de Lorenzo Caceres. There is a play park and a nice cafe where you can relax, while the kids play.
Great little eco-farm situated in Guimar. You would need a car to get here. it's really interactive and on the weekends the kids can ride the ponies and milk the goat. There are bags of food at the door and they can feed the pigs, goats and chickens. There is also a restaurant which does amazing Canarian food and it's really reasonably priced too. Free parking is available on site and the pony rides are 11.15 and 13.15 and milking the goat is 12. I would recommend getting there early.
