All UK travellers to require negative covid test before departing for the UK

From 4 am on Tuesday 7th December people age 12 and over visiting or returning to the UK will require a negative covid test before they depart for the UK. The health secretary announced these measures will be temporary and are in place to tackle the spread of the Omicron variant.

What you need to know

  • Regardless of your vaccination status all people aged 12 and over must take a covid test within the 48 hours of your departure for the UK.
  • You will not be able to return to the UK until you test negative. What to do if you test positive for covid whilst in Tenerife
  • Children age 12-17 are now included in the pre-departure test rules
  • You must still complete your passenger locator form
  • All passengers will still need to complete a day 2 test upon arrival in the UK and quarantine until you recieve a negative result
